LendingTree has issued the following alert: It has come to our attention that LendingTree, LLC's name and logo were recently used by an illegitimate company in an attempt to defraud consumers. The imposter imitated LendingTree correspondence and paperwork to request advance loan fees before granting the loan and asked customers to send ‘insurance fee' money via Western Union wire transfer. Please take note that LendingTree will never ask consumers to wire any money - ever. Legitimate conditional offers of credit do not require payments up front. Read Full Alert

Cyber criminals hitting photo-sharing apps...

The FBI today issued a warning that online criminals are using online photo-sharing programs like Instagram to initiate scams and dump malware on victims' computers. The FBI said offenders typically advertise vehicles online but will not provide pictures in the advertisement, rather they will send photos on request. The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received numerous reports of phishing attacks targeting various telecommunication companies' customers. Individuals receive automated telephone calls that claim to be from the victim's telecommunication carrier. Victims are directed to a phishing site to receive a credit, discount, or prize ranging from $300 to $500. Click Here
