Olympia area financial institutions are reporting that fraudulent text messages are being sent to clients and prospects stating that a debit or credit card has been deactivated or suspended. The message then asks for a call to a fraudulent phone number and people are asked for card numbers and other sensitive information.
TwinStar Credit Union has not been impacted and TwinStar members have not been targeted – but if we’ve learned one thing it’s that fraudsters are nothing if not persistent. While we do communicate with members via text, we will never send you a text asking you to provide sensitive information like a credit card number or your social security number. So, if you receive a suspicious text – Do Not Respond!
Thanks for taking a moment to read this message. There is more information on our website here about keeping your personal information safe and secure.
