Global Diversity Awareness Month

At TwinStar Credit Union, we are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). We believe in creating a welcoming and safe environment for everyone. By embracing different backgrounds and cultures, we hope to help strengthen the communities we serve.

Ashley Lax, TwinStar's Director of DEI and Development, is an important part of TwinStar's commitment to putting DEI into action. "DEI is an important part of TwinStar's culture and we have made a ton of strides in the last couple of years to make sure our actions match our commitment," said Ashley, "my role is dedicated to embedding DEI structure into our organization, which includes policies, training, and resources for members and employees. And we are expanding our DEI team to continue to support future growth areas. Our collaboration within our organization, as well as in the community, truly makes DEI a team effort and helps us take strides towards a better, more inclusive community for all."

That’s why TwinStar is proud to observe Global Diversity Awareness Month this October.  We want to celebrate and support the multicultural society that we live in.

Throughout the year, we provide financial support to a wide range of local  nonprofit organizations that promote diversity. And staying true to our humble roots in education, many of those organizations consist of local K-12 schools and colleges — as we seek to reduce barriers such as cost while increasing educational opportunities for underserved students.

Among the organizations and programs TwinStar supports are:

  • The Community Foundation of South Puget Sound
  • South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC)
  • Grays Harbor College
  • Centralia College
  • Franklin Pierce School District
  • United Way of Lewis County
  • United Way of Thurston County
  • St. Martin’s University
  • North Thurston Public Schools – One School, One Book
  • SafePlace
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters
  • Dispute Resolution Center of Grays Harbor
  • Council for the Homeless

We are also proud to partner with the following organizations that serve diverse populations:

  • Pizza Klatch
  • Hispanic Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce
  • Community Youth Services (CYS)
  • YMCA of South Sound
  • Boys & Girls Club of Thurston County
  • Thurston Together!
  • Day of Champions (Kiwanis)
  • Asia Pacific Cultural Center
  • A Step Ahead Pierce County
  • South Sound Parent to Parent
  • The Arc of SW Washington
