Happy Hanukkah from TwinStar

Happy Hanukkah and dreidel

Hanukkah begins this year on Sunday, November 28. Commonly known as the Festival of Lights, this Jewish holiday commemorates the recovery of Jerusalem and the rededication of the Second Temple. Hanukkah is observed for eight nights and days — and ends on Monday, December 6 this year.

Hanukkah is primarily celebrated by lighting candles each night of the holiday. The candles sit on a menorah that holds nine candles. The ninth candle is used to light the other eight candles. Each night one more candle is lit than the previous night, until all the candles are lit.

Other Hanukkah festivities include singing Hanukkah songs, playing dreidel, and eating oil-based foods such as latkes and sufganiyot.

From all of us here at TwinStar, we’d like to wish our TwinStar Credit Union members and employees who celebrate Hanukkah a happy and safe holiday!
