TwinStar Community Foundation Partners with Homeless Backpacks Organizations to Combat Student Hunger
The TwinStar Community Foundation completed a food and fund raising program to provide at-risk kids nutritious meals on the weekends. TwinStar members and employees raised more than $5,000 and donated thousands of pounds of food to eight Homeless Backpacks organizations. The TwinStar Community Foundation matched donations dollar for dollar.
Homeless Backpacks wants to end homelessness by giving teens the help they need to focus on school, go on to graduate and become contributing citizens.
Homeless Backpacks organizations in each TwinStar Credit Union service area received a check for $650 and an assortment of nutritious food items. Participating students leave school on Friday with good food to eat over the weekend and on weeknights. Participating organizations include:
- Grays Harbor Homeless Backpacks
- Share Inc., Vancouver
- Backpack Buddies, Wilsonville
- Hunger Task Force, Tacoma
- Centralia High School
- Chehalis High School
- Onalaska Backpack Program
- Homeless Backpacks, Olympia
Thanks go out to all the above organizations; we are truly impressed and amazed by you. The Foundation’s mission reads - Well Fed Kids Create Well Fed Minds and we are very pleased to collaborate with organizations that share our mission!
Thank you very much for supporting this worthy cause and watch for more TwinStar Community Foundation fund raising efforts in the future.
