TwinStar wins Workplace Excellence Award
One of our core values at TwinStar Credit Union is our commitment to provide a rewarding work environment to our employees. Ultimately, this philosophy leads to better member service from employees who are happy and fulfilled in their roles. Being employed with TwinStar gives us each an opportunity to impact our members through our work; something that not every job can provide. In turn, TwinStar sees the value in investing in its employees, and takes every opportunity to provide tools for them to succeed. What’s great is when other organizations take notice of TwinStar’s commitment to a rewarding work environment. Recently, the Lacey South Sound Chamber informed us that we had been chosen as a nominee for their Workplace Excellence Award - given to an organization who provides an excellent workplace for its employees.
On awards day, various TwinStar departments were abuzz with the news that we’d been nominated. (Without being too cliché, it’s a huge honor for us to be nominated for such an award.) Alexis Miller, one of our Business Development Officers, invited a group of TwinStar employees to be representatives at the event and I was lucky enough to be asked to attend. Upon arrival, it’s wasn’t hard to see the impact that the credit union and its members make on our community. When I walk into a room wearing my TwinStar name badge, I’m commonly approached by a happy member or two, but this time I was approached by at least four of our members who were excited to see their credit union being represented. Sometimes it feels as if I am part of a club that everyone wants to join.
As the forum proceeded, it was evident to me that we were in great company. The list of Lacey businesses present included: Forrey’s Forza, Creative Office, Olympia Vision Clinic, Panorama, Morningside Services, and Senior Services South Sound. When TwinStar was announced as the winner of the Workplace Excellence Award, the room roared with applause. Chris Heck, Alexis Miller, and Jeff Robertson (Senior Business Relationship Officer), went on stage to accept the award on TwinStar’s behalf. Chris Heck, our Director of Business Lending spoke about how honored we are to receive this award and took time to acknowledge the other nominees as valued community businesses.
For our award plaque, the Lacey South Sound Chamber chose a photo they thought best represented our “Workplace Excellence.” It happened to be a photo of our Business Development and Marketing teams wearing bright red clown noses for Red Nose Day. (A nationwide organization that gives back to communities all over the world- including ours.) I think the photo represents just a small fraction of the rewarding environment that TwinStar provides to its growing number of employees.
Though this story may seem to be about TwinStar winning an award, it isn’t. I think it’s about how our members enable us to provide not only support for local communities, but also a place of work that we can be proud of. One that not only embraces employee growth, but also diversity, open communication, integrity, and service excellence. Sitting at that table, I was proud being associated with TwinStar. Pride not only as a member, but also as an employee.
