FAQ: Updating your member number to a username

Why do you recommend I change my Login ID?

Logging in with a Login ID that you have created adds additional security to the online and mobile banking experience. It is a security best practice to avoid incorporating any sensitive information in your Login ID (including social security numbers).

What are the Login ID requirements?

  • At least 7 characters long
  • No more than 20 characters long
  • Cannot be a Login ID in use by another member

Login ID’s containing sensitive information (member number, social security number, etc.) are strongly discouraged

Are special characters allowed in my Login ID?

Yes, they sure are with the exception of:

Can you change it for me?

We’re happy to help guide you through the process however for security we cannot perform the actions on your behalf.

Am I required to change my Login ID today?

Starting April 10th 2017, we will be making Login ID changes mandatory to all members.

Can I change my Login ID from my TwinStar Mobile app?

Absolutely! Online Banking and Mobile Banking conveniently share the same navigation steps. Be sure you have the most up-to-date version by visiting the app store.

How do I change my Login ID?

While logged in from the Menu select Settings, Security Preferences, and Change Login ID. Type in your desired new Login ID and select Submit.

Are security alerts or notifications available when my Login ID is changed?

Absolutely! An alert will be sent by email from Notifications@twinstarcu.com with the subject line Security Alert Notification: Login ID Changed
To ensure delivery of the notification a secure message is also sent to the Messages area within online/mobile banking.

What if I forget my Login ID?

We are happy to help:

  • Use our Login ID recovery tool any time by clicking here.
  • Visit any of our TwinStar branch locations with current non-expired photo ID
  • 800.258.3115 option 3
  • M-F 8:00 am to 5:30 pm, Sat 9:30 am to 2:00 pm excluding holidays

I changed my Login ID more than once but would really like to change it back to one of the previous Login IDs. Is that possible?

Depending on these items:

  • Minimum of 24 hour wait before attempting to change to that Login ID
  • As long as no other member has used that Login ID after the 24 hour wait
  • Login ID’s containing sensitive information (member number, social security number, etc.) are strongly discouraged

Troubleshooting saved passwords or AutoCompleted items after changing Login ID

If you have your browser set to remember your TwinStar Credit Union Login ID and/or password you will need to update it to your newly created custom Login ID.


Troubleshooting Touch ID after changing Login ID

You may see an error message sharing that your password is incorrect.

On the mobile app please select “Standard Login” and enter your new Login ID and existing password then log out. When Standard Login is selected the app will require you to login with Login ID and password manually and log out before logging in with Touch ID.

To disable Touch ID inside the app after logging in with your new Login ID and password manually:

  1. Navigate to “Settings”
  2. Select “Security Preferences”
  3. Select the Touch ID toggle switch by tapping (not sliding)
  4. Once accepted it will take user back to “Security Preferences” and Touch ID toggle will be off.

To re-enable Touch ID inside the app after logging in with your new Login ID and password manually:

  1. Navigate to “Settings”
  2. Select “Security Preferences”
  3. Select the Touch ID toggle switch by tapping (not sliding)
  4. See Feature description and Feature enablement.  Select Continue
  5. Fill in credentials (login and password).  Select Authorize.
  6. The device will prompt user for fingerprint.  Place finger on the circle button on the device and not on the pop-up message image.
  7. Once accepted it will take user back to “Security Preferences.” Log out and back in.
  8. Upon the next login you should have the option to use Touch ID by tapping the fingerprint image.  The option to select “Standard Login” should also be available. 

I’m a business owner with advanced business online banking- how can I look up Login IDs for my sub-users?
