Financial Literacy

We teach financial literacy to 6,000+ students every year to foster financial health and well-being.

TwinStar Credit Union was started by teacher Dewey Noblitt in Room 107 of Olympia High School and with 15 teachers founded Thurston County Teacher Credit Union in 1937. We’ve remained dedicated to our educational roots by helping youth learn the principles of good money management.

In the USA, we send out high school graduates into the world without the basic understanding of personal finance and economics. Currently, more than 1 in 6 students in the US do not reach the baseline level of proficiency in financial literacy. Nearly ¼ of millennials spend more than they earn and 67% of Gen Y have less than 3 months' worth of emergency funds. We have solutions to help our youth be financially confident young adults.

Engaging financial presentations and activities are available for kindergarten through college-aged students anywhere in the areas TwinStar Credit Union serves. We reach over 6,000 students each year with a message of financial fitness — at no cost!

Topics covered:

  • Banking Basics
  • Budgeting
