Global Diversity Awareness Month

October is Global Diversity Awareness Month, which celebrates and supports the multicultural society that we all live in.

At TwinStar, we take diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) seriously – it’s our mission to create a welcoming and safe environment for everyone. It’s our steadfast belief that if we embrace different backgrounds and cultures, we also help strengthen the communities that we serve, live, and play in.

We are proud to regularly support local nonprofit organizations that promote diversity, many of which are local K-12 schools and colleges. Staying true to our roots as a teacher’s credit union, one of our goals is to increase educational opportunities for underserved students.

By providing financial support to organizations that support these students, we aim to help reduce barriers to learning such as cost.

Here are some of the organizations and programs that we support:

  • The Community Foundation of South Puget Sound
  • South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC)
  • Grays Harbor College
  • Centralia College
  • Franklin Pierce School District
  • United Way of Lewis County
  • United Way of Thurston County
  • St. Martin’s University
  • North Thurston Public Schools – One School, One Book
  • SafePlace
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters
  • Dispute Resolution Center of Grays Harbor
  • Council for the Homeless

We are also proud to partner with the following organizations that serve diverse populations:

  • Pizza Klatch
  • CIELO
  • Hispanic Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce
  • Community Youth Services (CYS)
  • YMCA of South Sound
  • Boys & Girls Club of Thurston County
  • Thurston Together!
  • Day of Champions (Kiwanis)
  • Asia Pacific Cultural Center
  • A Step Ahead Pierce County
