National Mentoring Month

National Mentoring Month

January is National Mentoring Month, which recognizes and celebrates the impact of mentoring — especially on younger people. All of us, at some point in our lives, have benefited from a mentor. And what better way to give back than becoming a mentor yourself?

Established 2002, National Mentoring Month aims to encourage people and organizations to become mentors, advance the mentoring field’s legislative goals, and create positive, lasting impacts on younger generations via mentoring.

During the month of January, there are several national events scheduled to raise awareness about the need for more mentors:

  • Jan. 11: I am a Mentor Day

  • Jan. 16: Dr. Martin Luther King Day of Service

  • Jan. 17: International Day of Mentoring

  • Jan. 26: Thank Your Mentor Day

  • Jan. 25-27: National Mentoring Summit

TwinStar is a proud to help more than 6,000 local students every year learn money management principles — including banking basics, budgeting, and risk management.

Looking for ways to get involved during National Mentoring Month? Here’s a few ideas:

  • Attend an event hosted about a local mentoring organization

  • Post on your social channels using hashtags such as  #MentoringMonth and #MentoringAmplifies

  • Recognize and celebrate corporate partners who emphasize mentoring
