Thank You for Supporting Our Maui Wildfire Relief Campaign

Last month, The TwinStar Community Foundation launched a campaign to support wildfire relief efforts in Maui. We invited our members to help us – and you responded in a big way.

Thanks to your amazing generosity, $50,000 was raised in just a span of two weeks – and then matched by the foundation – meaning that a total of $100,000 is going to relief efforts!

We chose to donate to the following three organizations because they provide direct support for response and recovery efforts.

1. Maui Strong Fund of HCF (50 percent)

The Hawaii Community Foundation (HCF) is supporting residents affected by the Maui wildfires – with a priority on addressing evolving needs such as shelter, food, and financial assistance.

2. West Maui school communities via Public Schools of Hawaii Foundation (25 percent)

The Public Schools of Hawaii Foundation and the Hawaii State Department of Education have partnered to support the recovery of its West Maui communities, which were impacted the hardest by the wildfires.

3. CUAid (25 percent)

The disaster relief arm of the National Credit Union Foundation, CUAid helps credit union employees and volunteers rebuild after natural disasters. At least two credit unions in Maui were destroyed and we know of five employees who lost their homes.

From all of us at TwinStar Credit Union, Northwest Community Credit Union, and the TwinStar Community Foundation, we again thank you so much for your generosity. It’s part of what makes our communities so special.
