Trans Day of Visibility was created by transgender activist Rachel Crandall in 2009 in response to the lack of LGBTQ+ recognition of transgender people. On March 31, 2009, the first International Transgender Day of Visibility was held to acknowledge and celebrate living members of the transgender community.
