In 2015, 42.2 million Americans lived in households with food scarcity, or low food levels, including households in the Pacific Northwest.* When thinking about hunger, many people often have a specific idea of what someone who struggles with food scarcity is like and what brought them to this point.
TwinStar’s annual Classroom Cash program completed another successful award cycle by recognizing 187 elementary school teachers from Tacoma to Portland with awards of $160 each. Classroom Cash proceeds are used for an array of purposes in and out of classrooms.
For the past 25 years TwinStar has been holding fundraisers to help fight for a cure in Thurston County. contributing to over $75,000. TwinStar’s commitment of $10,000 raised this year helped Relay for Life of Thurston County meet their $5 million goal on June 17, 2014.
Children Raised by their Grandparents or Other Relatives
For over a decade, TwinStar has been a sponsor of the Voices of Children Raised by Grandparents and Other Relatives Contest. The contest honors both the children, and the more than 37,000 relatives in Washington State who are raising them.
