Support our Maui Wildfire Relief Efforts

Thousands of Maui residents were affected by the wildfires in early August that left the historic town of Lāhainā devastated. The wildfires caused widespread damage that displaced families -- more than 100 people died as a result of the tragedy and over 1,000 people are still missing. 

Many homes, businesses, and historical landmarks were destroyed. In addition to having many immediate needs, the affected residents and communities face a long recovery. 

On August 28, the TwinStar Community Foundation is launching a Maui Wildfire relief campaign – and we hope you can help support our efforts. We’ll match up to $50,000 in member donations through September 15th! Together, we have the ability to make a difference. 

Where Donations will Go

We focused on choosing organizations that can best provide direct support toward response and recovery efforts. Monetary support provides the most flexibility when it comes to response efforts. 

All proceeds from this relief effort will be donated by the TwinStar Community Foundation to the following organizations: 

  1. Maui Strong Fund of HCF
    The Hawai‘i Community Foundation (HCF) is supporting residents affected by the Maui wildfires – with a priority on addressing evolving needs such as shelter, food, and financial assistance. 
  2. West Maui school communities via Public Schools of Hawai‘i Foundation
    The Public Schools of Hawai‘i Foundation and the Hawai‘i State Department of Education have partnered to support the recovery of its West Maui school communities, which were impacted the hardest by the wildfires. 
  3. CUAid
    The disaster relief arm of the National Credit Union Foundation, CUAid helps credit union employees and volunteers rebuild after natural disasters. At least two credit unions in Maui were destroyed and we know of five employees who lost their homes.

If you aren’t able to donate at this time, every time you use your TwinStar credit or debit card between August 28 and September 15, we are donating $.03 per transaction to our Maui Wildfire relief campaign.

We know that wildfires are an issue that hits home for many of us here in the Pacific Northwest, so we thank you so much for helping us support Maui wildfire relief efforts. Our hearts and thoughts go out to all those who are affected – and we look forward to helping them recover and rebuild.
